THANK YOU to everyone who took the time to dig through their pantry or purchase items at the grocery store to donate to the Angels Depot food drive that SMILE hosted this month. I took the 240+ bags of food to the Angels Depot today and they were so thankful for our donations of food. When all the bags were opened, we filled 15 trash cans/containers. It was amazing! Noah from the Angels Depot estimated that we brought in 2300 pounds of food. This makes us 4th in terms of food brought in from an organization, putting us behind the Harrah's and Pala Casinos. WOW!! We also brought in more food to Angels Depot than any other school has ever brought in before. The closest in poundage to us was 1100 pounds.
Your generosity will feed approximately 110 senior citizens for a week. This food drive was so successful and I really want to thank you for your support. I was so proud to say I was from Torrey Pines Elementary School when I dropped off 2300 pounds of food. I still can't believe we had that much! Amazing!
